[SUN]Mo Pete may stick around

The Raptors have made a qualifying contract offer to Morris Peterson.
"Yes, we've done that already," Raptors general manager Rob Babcock said when
asked yesterday about Peterson's contract status. The qualifying offer is for
one season and is worth $2.4 million US.
This doesn't necessarily mean Peterson, a four-year Raptors veteran, will be
back with the club next season.
It just means the Raptors at this point aren't prepared to let Peterson go
for nothing and are keeping their options open as to either retaining him or
using him in a possible trade scenario.
The NBA deadline for making qualifying offers to restricted free agents, such
as Peterson, is today.
By doing so, the Raptors have a right to match any contract offer Peterson
receives on the open market.
Big man Robert Archibald is the Raptors' only other restricted free agent.
However, Babcock said the Raptors have not made a qualifying offer to
Archibald, which means he'll become an unrestricted free agent when the
NBA's official free-agent negotiation period begins tomorrow.
The Raptors' attitude toward Peterson's return may be tied to other roster
moves they're pondering. And if the Raptors ultimately don't want Peterson
back, they can rescind the qualifying offer, as long as Peterson hasn't
signed it already.
Two summers ago the Raptors made a qualifying offer to Keon Clark but they
didn't really want him back.
When the free-agent market dried up and the Raptors got worried Clark might
actually accept the qualifying offer, it was pulled off the table and Clark
became an unrestricted free agent.
這文章的大意是...
Babcock 給了MoPe Qualifying offer 這個暑假Raps可以Match
任何其他隊伍給Mope的offer
只是這並不代表Mope就一定會回Raps
另外一個restricted free agent, Archibald 卻就沒有收到這個
也就是說他成為了unrestricted FA
