Matt Moore LHP Matt Moore has absolutely dominated the minor leagues over the past three seasons, but 2011 was undoubtedly his best year. He has struck out a remarkable 594 batters over 422.2 minor league innings the past three years, ascending from Class-A Bowling Green to Triple-A Durham. In 2011, he dominated with Double-A Montgomery, going 8-3 with a 2.20 ERA and 131 K's in 102.1 innings pitched before receiving a promotion to Triple-A Durham. That's when he really jumped on the fast track, posting a 4-0 record and a 1.37 ERA over 9 starts, striking out 79 batters in 52.2 innings pitched. Moore finished that up with an impressive big league cameo down the stretch, before dominating his Game 1 start against the Rangers in the ALDS. Pitching in the 2011 Futures Game during All-Star weekend, Moore hit 100 MPH on the radar gun during a game broadcast before a national audience. Safe to say, the cat's out of the bag on Moore now and, all eyes will be on him come Spring Training 2012. It will be interesting to see whether or not he breaks camp in the rotation. Hak-Ju Lee SS For most fans, Hak-Ju Lee's inclusion in the Matt Garza trade flew under the radar. Sure, he was having a nice season with Class-A Peoria of the Midwest League, but who was this young Korean shortstop? Now, roughly a year later, Lee is regarded as the signature piece acquired in the deal. He was promoted to Class-A+ Charlotte to begin the 2011 season in the Rays organization, where he excelled all season long. He earned a late season call up to Double-A Montgomery, and promptly hit a wall. Interestingly, Lee had exactly 100 of his 500 season at bats with Montgomery, but unfortunately those ugly numbers took a toll on his overall slash line as well. He hit .318/.389/.443 in 400 at-bats with Charlotte, but just .190/.272/.310 in 100 at-bats with Montgomery. His overall line of .292/.365/.416 is still respectable, but one should look at his numbers with Charlotte for a true projection of his future ability. Although regarded as Tampa's shortstop of the future, Lee still committed 18 errors in 2011 and will need to work on that going forward. He has good above average speed, shown by his 30+ stolen bases in each of the past two years. Chris Archer RHP Archer was the key pitcher acquired from the Chicago Cubs in return for RHP Matt Garza last offseason. He was coming off an outstanding season in the Cubs organization, where he went 15-3 with a combined 2.34 ERA and 149 K's in 142.1 innings pitched between Class-A+ Daytona and Double-A Tennessee.He wasn't able to immediately carry that success over to the Rays organization, but he battled all year long and ended up posting a respectable 4.09 ERA over 27 starts, and 130 strikeouts over 147.1 innings pitched. He was even rewarded for his determination with a promotion to Triple-A Durham, where he made two impressive starts to close out the season. Although he got a hit a lot harder in 2011, and he gave up a lot more fly balls than he did the previous year (which explain his career high in HR allowed), those have long been two of Archer's strengths. It will be interesting to see if those numbers return closer to normal in 2012 as Archer will have had a full year with his new team under his belt.
