1) MLB.com 的消息紅襪持續跟 Varitek 協商，GM Theo Epstein 表示目前沒有結果，但如同去年冬天所說的，Varitek 是紅襪重要的一份子，沒有理由將他排除捕手名單外；同時也會尋找年輕捕手人選。如果沒有結果，最後選擇還有George Kottaras 或者 Dusty Brown。 2) John Smoltz : $5.5M + 最高4.5M的激勵獎金 (AP版本是 5M + 5M) "I have always loved the city of Atlanta, and it will always be my home," Smoltz said in his statement.
