By Mark Miller Lots of folks want to replace the recently deceased Edward Kennedy in his now-vacant seat of the United States Senate. Curt Schilling(notes) is apparently one of them, according to the Boston Globe. Schilling, of course, has seven billion fans in New England, particularly since his 2004 American League Championship Series win over the New York Yankees that featured his blood-soaked sock. Now he might want to use all that goodwill he gathered to run for Kennedy's empty Senate seat. Of course, true Kennedy fans probably wouldn't vote for Schilling. Kennedy was a liberal lion and, as MSNBC's Rachel Maddow said last night about Schilling, "the big righty is a big Righty." He made appearances for George W. Bush during his re-election campaign and he also tried to help John McCain get elected last fall. So poor freshly buried Teddy already has an opportunity to turn in his grave already.
