In a text message to Josh Beckett, Red Sox GM Theo Epstein told him not to listen to people speculating that the John Lackey signing may spell the end of Beckett in Boston. "You're a huge part of what we've got going on here and we'd love it if it works out that you're a huge part of our future as well, " Epstein texted. Beckett will be a free agent after 2010 and has already made clear he will not give Boston a hometown discount like he did in signing an extension back in 2006.
