Buchholz hurt after first Major League hit

SAN FRANCISCO -- Injuries to key players continue to pile up for the Red Sox,
as Clay Buchholz, who is second in the American League in wins, with 10, had
to leave Saturday's start against the Giants with a hyperextended left knee.
Just moments after belting his first Major League hit -- a single to right in
the top of the second -- Buchholz pulled up lame on a double-play ball by
Marco Scutaro.
When the Red Sox went back out for the bottom of the second, Scott Atchison
replaced Buchholz on the mound.
Before the game, the Red Sox placed star second baseman Dustin Pedroia on the
disabled list with a non-displaced fracture in the navicular bone of his left
foot. Josh Beckett (back strain) and Jacoby Ellsbury (fractured left ribs)
are other key players on the DL.
