Re: Joe Blanton??
According to ESPN Boston's Gordon Edes, the Red Sox do not have a deal in
place for Joe Blanton and don't expect to reach one.
The Phillies are trying to open room in their budget for the five-year, $120
million contract that they just handed Cliff Lee, but they may have to look
elsewhere for a place to dump Blanton. He posted a pedestrian 4.82 ERA and
1.42 WHIP as a starter this past year and is owed $17 million over the next
two seasons, so it's not going to be easy to move him.
