But Adelman preferred the Rockets’ chances defending the 3-point line to securing the rebound of a missed free throw, and was proved right when Ron Artest blocked Vladimir Radmanovic’s 3 for a tie. His decision also had a lot to do with his distaste for the rule that allows players to charge in from the 3-point arc when the free throw is released. “There is no guarantee you’re going to get that rebound because you can’t box out on the free throw,” Adelman said. “Everybody can get in there when the ball is released, from the 3-point line to the paint and everything else.
