San Francisco wins home opener on strength of big inning
By Rich Draper / MLB.com
SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants starter Noah Lowry was taken out of Thursday's game in
the second inning with a right lower back strain, but San Francisco scored
six runs in the third inning to win its home opener against the Atlanta
Braves, 6-4, at AT&T Park.
Reliever Jeff Fassero (1-0) was the winner, as he allowed three runs over
3 2/3 innings, including back-to-back homers by Brian McCann and Braves
starter Jorge Sosa (0-1) in the third.
Pedro Feliz ripped a three-run double and Ray Durham a two-run single in the
Giants' big rally.
Giants relievers Tyler Walker and Scott Munter threw scoreless ball, then Tim
Worrell earned his second straight save in the ninth despite giving up a homer
to Brian Jordan.
