Mailbag: Lowry on trading block?
With the press to get Tim Lincecum up here, the unlikelihood of any of the
current starters to move to the bullpen and the premium on starting pitching,
are we going to see a midseason trade involving Noah Lowry? Is he on the block?
-- Rory H., Oakland
I believe the Giants would indeed consider trading Lowry, but only for a
legitimate offensive threat. General manager Brian Sabean wasn't overwhelmed
by any of the offers he received for Lowry or any of the Giants' other young,
promising pitchers during the offseason.
In the wake of the Francisco Liriano trade, Sabean won't part with a fairly
promising, 26-year-old left-handed starter such as Lowry without some definite
return. You probably heard the rumors about Lowry going to the Yankees for
Melky Cabrera. The Giants would want somebody more proven and productive than
Cabrera -- more like Miguel Cabrera of the Marlins, who was the subject of
several covetous letters to the mailbag. But the Giants would have to give up
much more than Lowry to get that kind of player.
心得:
Lowry for Melky Cabrera? 別鬧了,巨人要的是Bonds退休後重建可以頂上來的砲啊
Lowry for Miguel Cabrera? ...Sabean沒這能耐做這種搶劫 XD
