棒球與音樂的關係有多遙遠？高中時候，第一次知道，美國職棒的球員都有所謂「Player Intro Songs」，洋基 Rivera 的《睡魔降臨》，教士 Hoffman的《地獄喪鐘》。那年頭沒有電腦，也不知道有沒有 MLB.TV 的存在，祇能推算比賽時間，到網咖投錢看陽春版的 Gameday。希望下一球不要再是 In play: Out(s)。印象最深刻，是現場文字看 Matt Herges季後賽大發神威，還有 Neifi Perez的十局奇蹟全壘打、Brian Dallimore首打席 GS……（好像都不是啥經典畫面）。當時唯一的資訊來源，當然就是 SFGiants 官網。那天電腦課，發現了巨人網頁中有Player Intro Songs的介紹，陌生外國音樂、但一旁的熱音少年 Dumas說得口沫橫飛。下課後，我們走進水利玫瑰，買了人生中第一張洋鬼子西低：《何許人合唱團精選輯》，收錄帥哥 J.T.Snow的入場曲《Won't Got Fooled Again》。那時當然還不知道，Pete Townshend的大風車、愛與和平的囈語與傳說；不知道日後我會在廁所門口貼誰的海報，聽《Behind Blue Eyes》和《See Me Feel Me》掉眼淚。祇覺得叮叮噹噹的歌曲蠻有些意思，有些涼風的晚上，也放了整夜。但從沒弄清楚究竟唱了什麼內容……。棒球與音樂的關係有多遙遠？有時竟就是無緣對面不相識。幾年之間人跡雜沓，永遠的Bonds帶著一身毀譽離去、隊上早走了會作畫的Tomko，來了愛彈吉他的Barry Zito。五個出局數，Robb Nen無力守成；百勝球季，Snow 狠狠撞了 I-Rod，卻成就別人的傳奇。水利大樓的玫瑰倒了，三民路和全臺灣的大眾都搬到二樓。幾年間，發生了許許多多事，不再蒐集CD，不再喜歡提起過去。無論是否後悔，沒讓 Eric Young上來代跑，沒讓 Russ Ortiz丟完那場比賽；是否後悔 AJP的世紀大劫案；是否後悔來得太輕易的罪愆與傷害，球季都一直向前而去了。巨人官網的《Player Intro Songs》，仍年年更新，放在角落，透過網路放送到世界各地。偶然看到這篇有趣的文章，就翻譯於此──走進打擊區前，棒球與音樂的關係，其實也並不那麼遙遠。 -- Introduction Music Analysis By Brent Warnken Apr 17, 2009 http://tinyurl.com/l2acev 入場曲是球員性格表現的重要一環。在大聯盟嚴格的球隊規則與合約限制下，球員言行均受到控管。而入場曲就成了球員們表露自我的絕好機會。球員在踏進打擊區，或登上投手板之際，會有一小段音樂送行。選擇了什麼樣的歌曲會透露你的內在，甚至與到場球迷產生共鳴。以下就來看看幾位舊金山巨人的球員，與他們各自的入場歌曲。 Introduction music is an important part of a baseball player's persona. While Major League Baseball, specific teams and contracts within the league impose strict regulation surrounding personal expression- both appearance and verbal- introduction music is an excellent chance for players to put a piece of themselves out there. Ball players get a short snippet of a song, any song, to play before they step into the batter's box or take the mound. What they chose can say a lot about themselves and sometimes create an endearing relationship with the fans who come out to the games. Let's take a look at some of the San Francisco Giants players and what they have for their introduction music. The future of the ball club post-Barry Bonds seems to ride on Tiny Tim's slender shoulders, so the kid is already a fan favorite. San Francisco is a city that has a vibrant Asian-American population, a world famous China Town and a lot to offer visitors in terms of cultural variety. Tim's Philippino-American heritage is well documented and beloved within the City by the Bay's fog. His music choice is perfectly suited. Lincecum chose "Paranoid (remix)" by Linkin Park for his intro song. A blend of hip-hop and metal, headed by an Asian rapper and white lead singer, Linkin Park is just the kind of melting pot sound that fans in the Bay Area adore. Frankly, the fans would probably go wild if he chose to walk to the plate to a Toby Keith tune or the sound of Fran Drescher reading the Bible, but his song taste hits one out of the park anyway. While his past with the Giants has left much, much, much to be desired, fans are still ready to like him. He's known as a nice, quirky guy who likes Zen and surfing, so he's a positive change of pace from the last salary hogging Barry on the team. Zito plays Radiohead's "15 Step," a kind of up-beat but subdued electronic track. While most Bay Area fans would normally go wild for a Radiohead song, this particular track lacks a real kick to it- it's neither something you can dance to nor something you can sing along with, thus becoming a hard sell to fans who bought San Francisco Giants tickets. However, you'll never hear the tune on the radio, a minus. Randy Winn - 開路先鋒 Randy Winn緩緩走入打擊區，現場放送的是肯伊威斯特（Kanye West）的歌曲《Flashing Lights》。不像球賽終了前的竭力嘶吼（終結者 Wilson 的金屬樂），球迷們來到球場的第一首歌曲，是那種你會在開往球場的車上播放的音樂，也是巨人們獲勝後，酒吧裡輕輕響起的歌聲。 Randy Winn - The leadoff man Winn gives fans a taste of Kanye West's "flashing Lights" when he steps to the plate.
