Q. When you saw you were playing here at Roland Garros, what was your feeling
at first, and then how you felt you did with that match?
IVAN LJUBICIC: Well, I thought that -- I knew that it's not gonna be easy,
because we play many times and it was never easy. And I checked a little bit,
of course, his court -- his court on clay. Last year he didn't play a lot
because he was injured, and that was funny because we beat the same guys on
clay, you know, Florent Serra and Stepanek. We had similar results. So I was
expecting a big battle.
But, of course, when you win the first set 6-1, of course, you're satisfied
and confident that it's gonna be big.
And then second set, I was a little bit too defensive, I think, and, of
course, at break. But I was quite confident, you know. Even last night I
slept well, you know, without pressure because I knew even if I lose the
second set, I felt that if I play well, I can win it. So I think that second
set was very, very important.
Q. You've done very good results here going to the last four. When people say
clay is not your best surface, do you agree with that and what do you feel
about playing on clay?
IVAN LJUBICIC: Well, I have to say, it's huge difference between all the
tournaments before Roland Garros and Roland Garros, because Roland Garros,
the courts here are different than anywhere else. The balls are different. So
I think Roland Garros, it's completely different than any other tournament. I
agree the rest. What I was playing Monte Carlo, Hamburg, and Rome, it's not,
you know, the place where I want to play. Of course I prefer to play on hard
or indoors, of course.
But Roland Garros, I think as I said, it's completely different and I feel
confident here. Every time when I come here, I am playing well and I am
hitting the ball well. So clay, yes, you know if I can play somewhere else,
of course I would play. But I consider myself a pretty complete player. I
think it's much faster than other courts.
Also I just want to -- it's also end of the clay, you know, so by the time
you get to Roland Garros, you find your way how to play on clay.
