The tournament, which will take place at the Shenzhen Longgang Sports Center from December 29, 2018 to January 5, 2019, is entering its seventh year and can count on Li Na (twice), Simona Halep (twice), Agnieszka Radwanska and Katerina Siniakova as its former champions. “The entire line-up of players will be announced in due course, but this is an opportunity to let all fans of the Shenzhen Open know in advance that we are in for an exciting week of tennis at Shenzhen Longgang Sports Center,” tournament director Luiz Carvalho said. In addition to boasting some of the biggest names of today in the field, two of China’s greatest hopes for the future will be present in the form of Wang Xinyu and Wang Xiyu. The pair claimed the Wimbledon junior doubles title playing together, while Wang Xiyu earned the 2018 US Open girls’ title to become the first player from her country to win such an illustrious prize at that age level. Liu Wenbin, the deputy chairman of the Chinese Tennis Association, said: “ Every year, the Shenzhen Open grows and continues to be an exciting stop on the world tour as well as being a very important part of China’s tennis development.
