Steve Nash sat down and reviewed every clip of the film. He talked proudly of
the details and decisions in his art.
Nash坐了下來開始回想著在他的電影裡的每個片段。他驕傲地說著每一個從他的手中所
創造出來的細節與畫面。
If it were a look at his playmaking for the Suns, Nash would be reticent in
self-reflection. But Nash glows about his filmmaking, the art that will fill
his creative void when he retires from basketball. It is the passion he
secretly tapped in making a Nike commercial that hit youtube.com and became a
viral sensation with more than 450,000 views on three entries.
如果把Nash在太陽的領導者角色拿出來看,他總是沉默地在自我反省著。但Nash可是對
電影製作非常的熱衷,有朝一日Nash退休之後,你可以從他的電影作品上發現到他對藝
術的創作性可是不亞於籃球的。為什麼Nash會如此的熱衷電影製作呢?這是因為當初Nash
幫Nike拍完了一個廣告之後,這一個廣告在youtube上造成了相當大的轟動話題,也讓
Nash開始對電影製作產生了熱情。
Nash produced the 81-second piece and is the first Nike major sports athlete
to do so (skateboarding and BMX athletes get similarly involved). Nash wrote
it, pitched it, hired the director (Lola Schmabel) and produced his first
piece on a $30,000 budget during his stay in New York City last summer.
Nash自己製作了一部時間總長為81秒的片段,而這也是在Nike所有代言中擁有重量級
地位的運動員人裡第一位這麼做的(滑板運動與越野自行車球員中也有人做過同樣事情)。
Nash自己寫並且口述這個情節,他還邀請了導演Lola Schmabe來幫他製作這一部他去年
夏天待在紐約的故事,這部片段電影製作的成本是在3萬美金左右。
It won't be his last filmmaking foray. Nash started a film production company
with his cousin, director Ezra Holland, and plans to make independent-type
films.
這可不是Nash衝著一時的好玩才去做的。Nash與他的親戚、同時也是一位導演的Ezra
Holland合夥開了一間電影製作公司,並且準備來拍攝自主風格的電影。
"It was really fun for me to watch it grow organically," Nash said. "To make
a little film and see 400,000 people watch it is pretty fun."
"對我來說,能看著一部電影從無到有,這真的是非常有趣的。"Nash說。"製作如此短
時間的電影片段,並且想到有40萬人去瀏覽過這部電影,這真的是非常有趣。"
The commercial does not hawk a product. Nike's swoosh is not obvious until
the closing shot of Nash lying on the 54th floor of the new 7 World Trade
Center building.
Nike一開始並未去宣傳這一部作品。是因為在最後有一個鏡頭是Nash側躺在新的7號世界
貿易中心的第54樓,然後有人發現到Nike的小勾勾才因此傳出去的。
It is titled "Training Day" (the title and his name can lead you to it on
youtube.com). It is a slice of a Nash day in New York. That includes
skateboarding by the Brooklyn Bridge or on Wall Street as he turns heads. It
shows him playing soccer on the roof of Pier 40 or in Chinatown, where he
captured an elderly man's pose.
電影片段的主題是"Training Day"(在youtube可以找到這個片段,放心好了,我已經幫
你們給找好了,我會把連結放在外電的後面。)他的劇情是在說Nash在紐約的一天是怎樣
的。劇情的片段有Nash在布魯克林大橋或是在華爾街溜滑板的畫面,而且Nash的穿著、
感覺就跟一個在假日時間出外運動的人是沒什麼兩樣的。還有一些畫面是Nash在40號碼頭
的屋頂上或是在中國城裡踢足球,並且在這段拍攝期間,Nash也捕捉到一位相當有趣的
老人家所擺的姿勢(影片裡有)。
"He was just this guy on the street pimpin' so it was like, 'Let's get a shot
of him,' " Nash said.
"他就像是在街道上隨處可見的人一般,而我也就將他給拍了下來。"Nash說。
His soccer play on the piece is as good as a nifty goal, capped by him
kissing the crest of his favorite team (Tottenham) on his shirt.
在電影的片段中,Nash的足球射門技巧是極為好的,甚至超越了他最愛的球隊(英超),
Nash也在片段中親吻了在他的襯衫上英超的標記。
"We just wanted it to be natural and authentic," said Nash, who also shows
himself playing tennis. "It doesn't have to be a total highlight reel. It's
just what I go through on a day. What it is is just that I love to play, try
to get better and express myself.
"我們只是想要把它拍得更自然與有真實性,"Nash說,Nash也在片段中展示了他的網球
技巧。"片段裡不用全都是非常精彩的畫面。內容也就是我在一天之中所經歷到的事物而

"At first, the idea was to shoot on different mediums - camera phone,
8-millimeter, 16-millimeter (the eventual choice), security footage. My idea
was the city was watching me. The genesis was a lot of people film me or take
a picture of me in the city on cell phones. If it's such an appetite to see
me do normal things, it was an idea to do something people like."
"在一開始,這個點子是從許多不同的拍攝器材的拍攝所想到的,例如照相手機、監視
錄影帶....等等。我的想法是希望由這個城市來看我這個人。這個起源是來自很多人在
拍攝我或是拿著手機將我在這個城市裡的生活拍成一張張的圖片。就好比許多人很想要
看到我在作一些跟平常人沒兩樣的事情,這個拍攝點子就是去做某些人們感興趣的事情
。"
Childhood soccer clips, like a 3-year-old left-footed boot to open the film,
were added with Nash's voiceover from an unscripted studio conversation.
Chris Lamont, the Phoenix Film Festival president and an Arizona State film
production faculty associate, said he appreciated how the narration and
family video framed the work and created an emotional tie.
童年的足球片段,Nash在3歲時踢著足球開啟了影片的序幕,並且在背景中加上了Nash
不用稿子而直接說出口的旁白進去。在鳳凰城當地相當有名的電影總裁Chris Lamont也
說他非常欣賞這種自然的講述、與像似家庭記錄片一樣的旁白,更能表達出人們彼此間
的情感聯繫。
"The spot is like Steve Nash himself - very spontaneous," Lamont said.
"Guerrilla-style filmmaking really lends itself to the type of work. There is
an improv quality, which is like his play . . . I give it a thumbs up."
"旁白的處境就像似Nash本人的感覺,非常的自然,"Lamont說。"隨興風格的電影是非常
有特色的。而在電影片段中所呈現出來的感覺,就像似Nash在球場上帶領出來的風格一樣
,讓大家非常的喜愛,我也不禁要給他一個非常高的讚賞了。"
Nash surprised the Nike brass with the quality after he felt they had
provided a budget to placate his desire.
Nash還蠻驚訝Nike的管理者竟然肯提供一筆預算來滿足他的想法。
"Steve has shown he's extremely creative and dynamic on and off the court,"
Nike spokesman KeJuan Wilkins said. "He went above and beyond what somebody
could do with that limited budget. We're definitely excited about the
product. This is something that's going to live forever."
"Nash已經充分的在球場上表現出它的創造性與活力了,"Nike的代言人KeJuan Wilkins
說。"他能夠用那些有限的運算來做出比別人好太多的作品出來。我們對這個作品真的
感到相當的興奮。這個作品肯定會永久流傳下去的。"
Nash's next production will debut April 22 for Earth Day. It is a commercial
for his "Trash Talk" shoe, the first one Nike has made from manufacturing
waste at the behest of the environmentally conscious star.
Nash的下一個作品將為在4月22號為世界地球日首次登臺。這是一個為他代言的
"Trash Talk"鞋所作的廣告(本版5209已經有PO過介紹了),這也是Nike首次有如此
充滿愛護地球環境的球星主動出來代言用"廢棄合成橡膠皮塊"所製作的鞋子。
Whenever he retires, the work will be more cinematic.
不論什麼時候當他從球場上退休時,這個作品將會更有電影戲劇性。
"I like movies that are funny and smart," said Nash, naming The Big Lebowski
as a favorite movie and foreign films for another genre. "I like moves that
make me think or that I admire the writing, acting, direction, the
storytelling. Whether I'm at dinner or on the bus, I love someone telling me
a great story. I want to build and create and tell great stories."

感想:
我想我一定是瘋了(茶),半夜不睡覺,然後從兩點多翻到現在。
但是翻完之後,一整個感動,總算是有值得了。
本來我翻外電是不打感想的,但看完影片之後,身為一個Nash迷
不說些什麼東西總覺得會睡不著覺(其實是等下要趕火車(茶))。
其實影片中Nash打網球與在大樓裡踢足球的畫面,我好像有在台
灣或是網路電視的廣告中有看到,但廣告所播放的片段不太完整
,而且我好像沒聽到Nash的旁白,等我看完完整版之後。我只想
說這些廣告商能夠把這麼感動的影片剪成這樣,真是厲害啊(才怪)
幸虧我有把這篇外電拿來翻,不然看不到這麼好的影片,我可能
會哭哭。Nash的旁白加上電影片段中相當自然的場景,真的讓我
超感動的,也讓我覺得Nash他真的不需要用一個總冠軍來證明他
自己,對我來說,他真的是一名貨真價實的MVP了,而且是不論
在球場內或者是球場外,他永遠都是一位MVP。身為Nash迷看完這
影片之後,真的是超級感動的。
以上是我以Nash迷的觀點來說的。但總冠軍一定是要拿到的(茶),
不然身為版主說出這種話,等下可能會被圍毆 (" ̄▽ ̄)-c< ̄ ̄⊿ ̄ ̄ ̄")
