Power tennis is not good because the only aspect of the game that was stronger
brought along by power tennis is power hitting, the players are hitting the b
all harder, they no longer use other type of skills such as volleying because
with the ball hit as hard as they are the serve and volley style tennis is
almost existinct, there will be no longer any upcoming players that will try
to learn serve and volley because serve and volley is risky and it is much
safer to play from the back of the court. Power tennis will also mean less
court craft demonstrated by the players, such as angles, loop, variation of
speed. Power tennis to this day have brought along powerful baseliners and
we see a gradual decline of crafty players.
We like to see tennis player who can play all type of game, a more complete
game the one that was shown by likes of Edberg, Stich and Mecir who are
artist of the game. We also like to see shotmakers such as Petr Korda who
can hit the ball cleanly because of his exquisit timing not because of
raw power.
