Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Announces Annual Awards
MIAMI – The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour announced the 2006 Player Awards at the
Sony Ericsson Open Friday evening with seven players being honored, with each
award recipient receiving a Waterford Crystal Amethyst Eclipse trophy.
The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour’s Chairman and CEO Larry Scott along with Sony
Ericsson’s Corporate Vice President and Head of Marketing Dee Dutta were on
hand to present the winners their awards. Clijsters was the only player to
receive two.

Amelie Mauresmo (’06 Australian and Wimbledon winner)
Doubles Team of the Year
Lisa Raymond & Samantha Stosur (’06 French Open and the Sony Ericsson
Championships winner)
Karen Krantzcke Sportsmanship Award
Kim Clijsters
Newcomer of the Year
Agnieszka Radwanska
Humanitarian of the Year
Kim Clijsters
Most Improved Player of the Year
Jelena Jankovic
Comeback Player of the Year
Martina Hingis
