http://www.startribune.com/511/story/1105571.html Randy Foye turned the question around. "Let me ask you: Do you think I should play?" the Timberwolves rookie guard said. "Do you think it would help me?" From most players, that would have been a challenge, said a little defiantly, the answer implied. But in this case, Foye was sincere. He really seemed to want to know whether one writer thought he would benefit from playing in the Las Vegas Summer League for a second year. Uh, sure. Couldn't hurt. "Uh huh," Foye said, nodding. "I know I don't have to play. But I wouldn't not play just because of that. If they thought it would be good for me or help the team, I think I'd play." If Foye plays for the Wolves' summer entry, eager to improve, he will be back where he was named MVP of the competition last summer. The Wolves have committed to the burgeoning offseason developmental competition in Las Vegas, which is expected to grow from 16 teams to 20 this year. "It's very helpful, having all the teams in one spot," said Rob Babcock, Wolves assistant general manager. "It's very convenient -- you don't have to fly around to a lot of different places to see players." Might it be too big? Last summer, the Wolves' five games were spread across nine days, so all the teams could be accommodated. It might take longer this July. "You just need five games, so if you get six teams, you're good," Babcock said. That's how the Wolves ran their own summer league in 2004 and 2005, six teams playing each other over five days. The event was popular with NBA scouts, with plenty of hotels close to Target Center for coming and going. They dropped it largely because Babcock, in charge of the operation, had been hired as Toronto's general manager. Now that Babcock is back with the Wolves, might the summer league return to Minneapolis? "With Las Vegas getting so big, it would be hard to put on another one," he said. "They're already sensitive to not hurting the Rocky Mountain Revue [in Salt Lake City]. So if they're both going, I don't see where we'd get enough teams to run one." -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.170.217.166
