The NBA’s summer league begins this week and the Minnesota Timberwolves
squad features three 2022 draft picks. Here’s a quick breakdown of the
players on Minnesota’s roster in the NBA Summer League (in alphabetical
order).
BRIAN BOWEN II, G, 6-foot-7, 199 pounds
Bowen played in five Summer League games and two preseason games for the
Wolves last season. He then played in 15 games for the Iowa Wolves, averaging
13,8 points and 7.5 rebounds before being waived March 10. Bowen has 12 games
of NBA experience with Indiana – six games in 2019-20 and six in 2020-21 –
tallying nine points and 10 rebounds in just under 46 minutes of action
TERRELL BROWN JR., G, 6-3, 185
Brown went undrafted after a five-year college journey which saw him play in
junior college, two years at Seattle (where he walked-on), one with Arizona
and last season for Washington. With the Huskies he started 32 games and
averaged 21.7 points, 4.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals while shooting
45.2% from the field. Brown was tabbed first-team All-Pac-12.
DEONTE BURTON, F, 6-4, 240
Burton played with the Wolves in the summer of 2017 after being undrafted out
of Iowa State. He eventually played in 71 NBA games with Oklahoma City from
2018-20, averaging 2.6 points over 8.4 minutes. Last season he appeared in 32
games for the G League’s Maine Celtics, averaging 15.1 points, 6.1 rebounds
and 3.4 assists over 31.4 minutes.
GEORGE CONDITT IV, F, 6-10, 245
After four years at Iowa State – he averaged 4.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in
2021-22 -- Conditt wasn’t selected in the NBA draft, however earlier in the
year he was taken in the second round of Puerto Rico’s Baloncesto Superior
Nacional draft by the Gigantes de Carolina (Conditt’s mother is Puerto
Rican). In that team’s recently concluded season, Conditt averaged 11.5
points and 7.0 rebounds over 26.8 minutes in 23 games (22 starts).
MELVIN FRAZIER JR., G, 6-5, 215
A second-round draft pick of Orlando in 2018 out of Tulane, Frazier played in
10 games with the Magic in 2018-19 and 19 in 2019-20 averaging 2.7 points in
9.1 minutes. Last season he got into three games with Oklahoma City,
averaging a whopping 40.0 minutes with 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds. In 15
games with the G League’s Oklahoma City Blue he averaged 11.6 points while
shooting 54.1% from the field and 39.2% from 3.
KEVON HARRIS, G, 6-6, 216
Undrafted in 2020 out of Stephen F. Austin, where he averaged 17.8 points as
a junior and 17.5 points his senior year, Harris played briefly overseas last
season in the ABA League before joining the G League’s Raptors 905, where he
averaged 14.8 points and 5.7 rebounds in 29.2 minutes. He shot 47.3$% from
the field and made 36.4% of his 3-point attempts.
MATT LEWIS, G, 6-3, 189
A four-year starter at James Madison, Lewis was named CAA player of the year
as a senior, when he averaged 19.7 points on 47.0% shooting, including 38.4%
from 3, to go with 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals. Lewis averaged
18.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists as a junior.
DAVID MCCORMACK, F, 6-10, 250

Jayhawks he shot 52.7% from the field over his 132 games (with 96 starts). As
a senior he averaged 10.6 minutes and 7.0 rebounds over 21.9 minutes and was
named third-team All-Big 12. He saved his best for last, named to the
all-NCAA tournament team as Kansas won the national championship. McCormack
had 25 points and nine rebounds against Villanova in the semifinals and 15
points and 10 rebounds in the title game win over North Carolina.
JOSH MINOTT, F, 6-8, 197
Selected in this year’s draft after trading down in the second round to get
the No. 45 overall pick, Minott played just one season at Memphis. In 33
games, of which he started five, he averaged 6.6 points and 3.8 rebounds in
14.6 minutes while shooting 52.2% from the field. Despite his limited playing
time, Minott finished 15th in the AAC in offensive rebounds (52) and 18th in
blocks (22). He also was named to the AAC All-Freshman team.
WENDELL MOORE JR., F, 6-5, 213
Taken with Minnesota’s second first-round pick at No. 26 overall, Moore
played three years at Duke, increasing his scoring, rebounding, assists and
steals averages each year. As a junior last season he averaged 13.4 points,
5.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.4 steals over 33.9 minutes while playing 39
games, all starts. Moore was named the Julius Erving Award winner, given to

points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He sank 30 of 68 (44.1%) 3-point
attempts. The plan is for him to remain overseas this upcoming season.
PHILLIP WHEELER, F, 6-8, 185
A native of Rumson, N.J., Wheeler didn’t play in college instead going the
international route where he’s hooped since 2019-20. This past season he
started with the G League’s Mexico City Capitanes, where he played six games
before heading to Puerto Rico, appearing in 29 games for Piratas de
Quebradillas and averaging 17.4 points and 5.9 rebounds. He left that team in

in two games.

declaring for the draft. He wasn’t selected and ended up playing in nine
games for Greensboro of the G League. This past season he appeared in 29
