Here’s a quick breakdown of the players on Minnesota’s roster in the NBA Summer League (in alphabetical order). BRIAN BOWEN II, G, 6-foot-7, 199 pounds Bowen played in five Summer League games and two preseason games for the Wolves last season. He then played in 15 games for the Iowa Wolves, averaging 13,8 points and 7.5 rebounds before being waived March 10. Bowen has 12 games of NBA experience with Indiana – six games in 2019-20 and six in 2020-21 – tallying nine points and 10 rebounds in just under 46 minutes of action TERRELL BROWN JR., G, 6-3, 185 Brown went undrafted after a five-year college journey which saw him play in junior college, two years at Seattle (where he walked-on), one with Arizona and last season for Washington. With the Huskies he started 32 games and averaged 21.7 points, 4.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals while shooting 45.2% from the field. Brown was tabbed first-team All-Pac-12. DEONTE BURTON, F, 6-4, 240 Burton played with the Wolves in the summer of 2017 after being undrafted out of Iowa State. He eventually played in 71 NBA games with Oklahoma City from 2018-20, averaging 2.6 points over 8.4 minutes. Last season he appeared in 32 games for the G League’s Maine Celtics, averaging 15.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists over 31.4 minutes. GEORGE CONDITT IV, F, 6-10, 245 After four years at Iowa State – he averaged 4.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in 2021-22 -- Conditt wasn’t selected in the NBA draft, however earlier in the year he was taken in the second round of Puerto Rico’s Baloncesto Superior Nacional draft by the Gigantes de Carolina (Conditt’s mother is Puerto Rican). In that team’s recently concluded season, Conditt averaged 11.5 points and 7.0 rebounds over 26.8 minutes in 23 games (22 starts). MELVIN FRAZIER JR., G, 6-5, 215 A second-round draft pick of Orlando in 2018 out of Tulane, Frazier played in 10 games with the Magic in 2018-19 and 19 in 2019-20 averaging 2.7 points in 9.1 minutes. Last season he got into three games with Oklahoma City, averaging a whopping 40.0 minutes with 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds. In 15 games with the G League’s Oklahoma City Blue he averaged 11.6 points while shooting 54.1% from the field and 39.2% from 3. KEVON HARRIS, G, 6-6, 216 Undrafted in 2020 out of Stephen F. Austin, where he averaged 17.8 points as a junior and 17.5 points his senior year, Harris played briefly overseas last season in the ABA League before joining the G League’s Raptors 905, where he averaged 14.8 points and 5.7 rebounds in 29.2 minutes. He shot 47.3$% from the field and made 36.4% of his 3-point attempts. MATT LEWIS, G, 6-3, 189 A four-year starter at James Madison, Lewis was named CAA player of the year as a senior, when he averaged 19.7 points on 47.0% shooting, including 38.4% from 3, to go with 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals. Lewis averaged 18.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists as a junior. DAVID MCCORMACK, F, 6-10, 250 After four years at Kansas, McCormack went undrafted this year. With the Jayhawks he shot 52.7% from the field over his 132 games (with 96 starts). As a senior he averaged 10.6 minutes and 7.0 rebounds over 21.9 minutes and was named third-team All-Big 12. He saved his best for last, named to the all-NCAA tournament team as Kansas won the national championship. McCormack had 25 points and nine rebounds against Villanova in the semifinals and 15 points and 10 rebounds in the title game win over North Carolina. JOSH MINOTT, F, 6-8, 197 Selected in this year’s draft after trading down in the second round to get the No. 45 overall pick, Minott played just one season at Memphis. In 33 games, of which he started five, he averaged 6.6 points and 3.8 rebounds in 14.6 minutes while shooting 52.2% from the field. Despite his limited playing time, Minott finished 15th in the AAC in offensive rebounds (52) and 18th in blocks (22). He also was named to the AAC All-Freshman team. WENDELL MOORE JR., F, 6-5, 213 Taken with Minnesota’s second first-round pick at No. 26 overall, Moore played three years at Duke, increasing his scoring, rebounding, assists and steals averages each year. As a junior last season he averaged 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.4 steals over 33.9 minutes while playing 39 games, all starts. Moore was named the Julius Erving Award winner, given to the nation’s top small forward, to the ACC All-Defensive team and second-team All-ACC. MARIAL SHAYOK, F, 6-6, 206 A second-round pick out of Iowa State by Philadelphia in 2019, Shayok played in four games for the 76ers, scoring 11 points in 28 minutes. He’s played internationally the past two years after spending one year in the G League. This past season Shayok played in Turkey, where he averaged 5.4 points over 17.2 minutes. MATTEO SPAGNOLO, G, 6-4, 196 Taken by the Wolves in the 2022 draft in the second round (No. 50 overall), the 19-year-old played for Vanoli Cremona this past season and averaged 12.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He sank 30 of 68 (44.1%) 3-point attempts. The plan is for him to remain overseas this upcoming season. PHILLIP WHEELER, F, 6-8, 185 A native of Rumson, N.J., Wheeler didn’t play in college instead going the international route where he’s hooped since 2019-20. This past season he started with the G League’s Mexico City Capitanes, where he played six games before heading to Puerto Rico, appearing in 29 games for Piratas de Quebradillas and averaging 17.4 points and 5.9 rebounds. He left that team in January and signed with the G League’s Rio Grande Valley Vipers, appearing in two games. KAHLIL WHITNEY, F, 6-6, 210 Whitney played in 18 games for Kentucky as a freshman in 2019-20 before declaring for the draft. He wasn’t selected and ended up playing in nine games for Greensboro of the G League.
