We can win a medal, says Okur Wednesday, July 18, 2007 ISTANBUL ─ Turkish Daily News Utah Jazz center Mehmet Okur is hopeful that Turkey can claim a medal in the forthcoming European Basketball Championship in Spain. Speaking after the first day of training with Turkey in Istanbul's Abdi Ipekci Arena, Okur said he could not wait for the tournament to begin. "I am really excited right now, because I feel really well and can give 100 percent of myself." Okur is eager to make his return to the team worthwhile, since he withdrew from the squad due to injury last summer. "Now I am perfectly fit and everything is positive," said the center, "We want to play our best in Spain and want to return Turkey with at least a bronze medal." Point guard Ender Arslan also stated that the additions of NBA stars Okur and Hidayet Turkoglu made the team complete and strong enough to grab a respectable spot in the championships.
