The Utah Jazz will have to wait a while longer for All-Star forward Carlos
Boozer to return.
According to a report in the Deseret Morning News, Boozer will not travel
with the team on its upcoming three-game preseason road trip.
"After that, I don't know," said Kevin O'Connor, the team's executive
director of basketball operations. "It's got to be his call."
Boozer's year-old son Carmani is recovering in Miami from a bone-marrow
transplant related to his battle with sickle cell anemia. Boozer missed all
of the team's preseason camp in Boise and Utah's preseason opener, a 90-81
loss to Milwaukee on Wednesday.
Even if the All-Star forward were to join up with the Jazz on the road, coach
Jerry Sloan said he would not play Boozer before he had a chance to practice.
Boozer averaged 20.9 ppg and 11.7 rpg as Utah made it to the West finals for
the first time in nearly 10 years.
