Fiorentina boss Sergio Buso has criticised his players for showing a lack of
character, something they’ll need to face Lazio on Sunday.
“We will try to play good football and I ask my lads to show their
character, even if unfortunately that is something you cannot buy or teach.
All a Coach can do is try to get that attitude out of people,” said the
tactician.
The Viola are under attack from their own fans following the disappointing
1-0 defeat at Atalanta midweek – the first win that team had managed all
season.
“It was a dignified performance and that’s the way we had to play it,”
insisted Buso, “but we were unlucky to concede that late goal. I realise
the supporters will make their feelings heard, though I must concentrate on
what’s happening on the pitch.”
They face a tricky encounter at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, as Lazio are
buoyed up by their impressive derby victory and the arrival of new Coach
Giuseppe Papadopulo.
“I don’t know which players will be able to recover in time,” he
concluded, “and a lot of my tactical choices will depend on what the medical
staff tells me. We’ll see how Cristiano Lupatelli and Christian Rigano`
shape up in the final training session.”
Meanwhile, Paolo Di Canio’s controversial post-match celebrations – with
some interpreting his gestures as a fascist salute – could cause crowd
trouble in what is already a notoriously volatile game, as Fiorentina have a
large left-wing contingent among their fanbase.
