Luca Toni is currently the Serie A Capocannoniere and on form striker in
Italy, but he admits he very nearly quit the game a few years ago.
Luca Toni不但是目前義甲得分王狀態更是好的不得了，但他承認在幾年前幾乎要放棄
足球。
“I was about to leave football altogether,” confessed the hitman on RAI’s
sports show ‘Dribbling.’ “There was a year in Serie C1 where I spent my
entire time on the bench. I thought it might be best to just go back to
amateur level and have fun with my friends, but I’m glad I didn’t.”
"我之前打算完全離開足球。"他如此承認。

Toni scored two goals in 25 appearances with Fiorenzuola in the 1997-98
campaign, when he was 21 years old, but moved to Treviso a year later and
kick-started his career with 15 in 35 Serie B games.

“I don’t think he seriously thought about quitting,” insisted then
Fiorenzuola Coach Alberto Cavasin. “It was like when you are struggling to
settle at University and consider changing your main subject. Toni was
already a good player back then and these difficulties proved crucial for his
future career.”

Now Fiorentina are flying high in third place and pushing for a spot in the
Champions League next season.

“I am curious to see how far the Viola can go,” smiled Toni. “We are
certainly going through a great period of form right now, but there will be
tough times ahead. Nonetheless, Fiorentina are one of the teams to beat.”

Toni could be fielded as a lone striker when they take on Ascoli on Sunday
afternoon. The match will be played at Rimini’s Stadio Neri and behind
closed doors after crowd trouble earned Ascoli a two-match ban.
Toni可能在週日與Ascoli交手時擔任單前鋒。這場比賽將在Stadio Neri舉行，並且是
