Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli has a plan to cut the gap between Serie A’s
giants and the chasing pack: restrict all squads to a maximum of 22 players.

“In my opinion, all teams should be allowed no more than 22 players plus a
few youth team graduates. With this system I am sure that we wouldn’t see
the same old clubs winning trophies every year and our championship would
become more competitive and spectacular,” said the Coach.
"以我的觀點而言，一隻球隊不需要超個22名球員，其中要有從青年軍上來的。有著
這個系統，將使每年的冠軍不會有相同的隊伍獲得，而且我們的陣容將更具有競爭力
及可看性。"他如此說到。
Even without the Prandelli rules, Fiorentina have become the fourth power in
Italian football this season and are challenging Milan and Inter for places
in the Champions League.
儘管FIO尚未達到Prandelli的方式，但在本季已經成為義甲的第四勢力，並且挑戰米蘭

The Serie A table at the turn of the year also presented some interesting
minnows in the top spots, as Livorno, Chievo and Sampdoria are next in line
for the UEFA Cup berths.

Much of the Viola’s success this term has been down to the form of
Capocannoniere Luca Toni, earning him links with the likes of Barcelona.

“I tried speaking Spanish to see if I got a reaction,” smiled Prandelli. “
We laughed it off – Toni doesn’t know the language and never will! We know
this is just a report aimed at destabilising the team, but it did not achieve
its objective.”

If Toni is not going to be part of the January transfer market, then
Fiorentina certainly will be after losing Brazilian Do Prado to injury.

“That really set us back, as we no longer have an alternative for the right
flank. We’ve done well so far, but three games in a week could cause us
serious problems. The club knows the situation and is working to complete the
squad, but not to change it completely. It’s essential to plan ahead rather
than improvise in these matters.”

Fiorentina have been linked with a host of wingers over the past few days,
including Cagliari’s Mauro Esposito, 21-year-old Chilean Luis Jimenez of
Ternana, Parma’s want-away Italian international Marco Marchionni and
Anderlecht’s Swedish midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson.
最近幾日傳聞被FIO看上的邊鋒有一大堆，包括Cagliar的Mauro Esposito，Ternana
21歲智利小將Luis Jimenez，想要離隊的Parma國腳Marco Marchionni和Anderlecht
瑞典人Christian Wilhelmsson。
