Carlo Mazzone makes his debut on the Stadio Armando Picchi bench in the
pressure cooker of a Tuscan derby, as Livorno host high-flying Fiorentina.
The Amaranto parted company with Roberto Donadoni earlier in the week after
he was publicly criticised by President Aldo Spinelli following the 2-2 draw
with Messina – their fifth tie in the last six matches. That run has seen
them slip behind in the running for a UEFA Cup spot.

was forced to watch that encounter from the stands due to a previous
touchline ban, dating back to his Bologna days. With no injury or suspension
issues, there’s only good news for the tactician as he welcomes back
defensive duo Alessandro Grandoni and Jorge Vargas from bans. With Tuscan
bragging rights at stake – and given the volatile nature of President
Spinelli – Mazzone will be hoping to get his Armando Picchi tenure off to
the perfect start against one of his former clubs.
