Both were taken from Treviso, as this week the club – relegated to Serie B – won the remaining 50 per cent of Gobbi’s contract from Cagliari in a blind auction. This is where the sides can’t reach an agreement, so they put figures in a sealed envelope and the highest bid wins. Gobbi impressed during his two seasons at the Stadio Sant’Elia and the 26-year-old is particularly strong in the air. He began his career at Pro Sesto in 1998-99 and has also played for Giugliano and Albinoleffe. The other signing for Fiorentina is Reginaldo, the 21-year-old Brazilian support striker who scored five goals in 31 appearances for Treviso last term. He first joined the Stadio Tenni outfit as a teenager in 2000-01 and is a free kick specialist known more for providing assists than hitting the back of the net. He proved decisive in their promotion in 2004-05 with 11 Serie B goals. Fiorentina did not confirm the details of the moves, but confirmed that Gianni Guigou has been sold to Treviso as part of the deal.
