http://0rz.net/f21BN The verdicts in the Italian match-fixing scandal could now be returned on Saturday, as Juventus, Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio all wait for their futures to be resolved. The much-awaited ruling was expected as early as July 10, but following Italy's victorious World Cup campaign any announcement has been delayed. Four of Italy's top Serie A clubs, along with a further 26 individuals within the power-structure of Italian football, have been implicated in the trial after the publication of wire taps detailing phone conversations of former Juve general manager Luciano Moggi. The quartet could all face relegation and points deductions if found guilty, and whispers in Italy suggest that all that remains to be decided is the extent of the sanctions, rather than whether a guilty verdict should be returned. Judge Cesare Ruperto heads the tribunal that will decide on the relative punishments, and the clubs involved are all reportedly ready to appeal should they not receive a favourable ruling. However time is running out to resolve the wide-ranging scandal as Uefa's deadline for entering teams into European competition expires on July 25. If the Italian Federation fail to submit a list of clubs then the historic nation faces a real risk of having no representatives in continental competitions next season.
