The striker seems set to leave the Viola at the end of the season, as it seems unlikely that the Gigliati will qualify for the Champions League, which is one of the world champion's priorities Toni is a reported target for Bayern Munich and Inter as confirmed by Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino, who also declared that the player's position will only be discussed at the end of the season. Chelsea have now joined the race to sign Toni and are planning a ￡14m bid for the former Palermo man, according to La Nazione. Blues' owner Roman Abramovich is a big fan of the striker and would be glad to bring him to Stamford Bridge, due to Andriy Shevchenko's disappointing season and Hernan Crespo's desire to stay in Italy. The Chelsea chief has supposedly already contacted the Della Valle family to present an offer and has prepared a three-year contract worth ￡3.5m per year for the 2005-06 Capocannoniere.
