Like fellow Parma youth product Rossi (pictured), Lupoli moved to the Premiership in 2004 when the Gialloblu were on the verge of bankruptcy, but is set for a return to Italy. 「From next season I will wear the Fiorentina jersey and hope to find my space there. Arsenal had offered me a four-year contract renewal, but I preferred the Italian League,」 he told the 『Gazzetta dello Sport'. Lupoli is at the Coverciano training ground this week for an Under-21 international get-together with Coach Pierluigi Casiraghi ahead of the European Championships this summer. While Rossi is the star name after his exploits with Parma since his January transfer, the Arsenal and Derby County man is eager to change that. 「Rossi was with me at Parma. Now everyone talks about him, but I do not feel in any way inferior to Giuseppe,」 assured the forward. One went to Manchester United, the other to Arsenal, but both teenagers made their mark on the English game. 「I learned a great deal from my English experience, as training with players like Robert Pires and Thierry Henry is unique. Speaking of which, I really doubt that Titi' will leave London,」 he said of the Inter target. 「With Derby County I played almost 30 games and scored 11 goals, but since Fiorentina made my signing official, I have often been relegated to the bench or stands.」 It gave him the opportunity to brush up on his newspaper talk and in particular Milan's 5-3 aggregate Champions League drubbing of Manchester United. 「United's exit was seen as a huge defeat, just like Chelsea's, as the bookmakers saw them as the runaway favourites. Liverpool in the Final is a big surprise for everyone.」 Yet Lupoli and Rossi feel that their careers were sped up by moving to the Premiership rather than staying to fight for their place in Serie A. 「In England the young players get more of a look-in. My teammates in the Under-21 Italy side would all be first team players in the Premiership.
