Speculation about Toni's future has been mounting steadily in recent months, with Bayern Munich making no secret of their interest and a number of Italian clubs also linked. Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle said on Saturday that he feared he would not be able to keep hold of Toni. And after a meeting between Toni and Della Valle, Fiorentina have accepted defeat and declared that he will play his football elsewhere next season. A statement on the club's official website said: "Fiorentina announce that this morning president Andrea Della Valle met Luca Toni. "Thanking him for the important help he gave to the team in these two seasons in which he scored 49 goals, the president decided to comply with the player's will to continue the career in another club."
