Christian Vieri was beaming at his presentation Press Conference
and did not hesitate in accepting Fiorentina's proposal.
“I accepted immediately because Fiorentina are an important club
with a great Coach and real ambition. I feel like a 20-year-old just
starting out,” said the veteran.
Vieri 說：「我馬上就接受了，因為 Fiorentina 是一家重要的球會，
擁有好教練與真正雄心，我感覺自己像剛出道的２０歲小伙子。」
It has been a tumultuous couple of years for the player who has signed
contracts with Milan, Monaco, Sampdoria and Atalanta, barely stepping
on to the field due to a series of injuries.
“Last season my objective was to play the last six or seven games
and I achieved that. Now I want to challenge myself again.
The crucial thing for me was to find a big club that believed in me.”
「去季我的目標是踢上最後六、七場球，我做到了，現在我要再次挑戰自己，
對我來說重要的是找到一家對我有信心的大球會。」
With the departure of Luca Toni to Bayern Munich, the pressure is on
Vieri and Under-21 international Giampaolo Pazzini to deliver the goods.
Toni 離隊，重擔落到 Vieri 跟Ｕ２１國腳 Pazzini 身上。
“I did a lot of rehabilitation training in recent months and am finally
ready to get back in shape. Pazzini is young and has much to learn.
I've always had a fine rapport with my striking partners and am sure
it will be the same with him.”
「過去幾個月我做了很多復健訓練，終於準備好找回狀態了，
Pazzini 很年輕也還有很多要學，我向來跟前鋒搭檔有良好的密切關係，
我確信跟他也會是一樣的。」
Some fans did not exactly welcome Vieri with open arms
to the Stadio Franchi side, but he was given a warm reception
at the Castelrotto training ground today.
有些球迷不太歡迎他。
“I don't pay attention to such things any more. In the last 10 years
my life has always been the centre of controversy, so it washes right off me.
I am ready to work hard and try to force some applause out of those who
have doubts about me.”
「我已經不再注意這種事了，過去十年我的生活一直是爭議核心，所以這不算什麼，
我作好努力訓練的準備，並嘗試迫使那些對我有疑慮的人給出掌聲。」
Although he was born in Bologna and spent much of his childhood
in Australia, Vieri has fond memories of the Viola.
“At age 14 I was in the Curva Ferrovia to watch Roberto Baggio play.
Now I'm the one at Fiorentina and will try to do my best.”
「我１４歲的時候就在 Curva Ferrovia 觀看 Roberto Baggio 踢球了，
現在我是 Fiorentina 的一員，會試著盡全力付出。」
The 34-year-old denied reports that the contract had special bonuses
for the number of goals scored.
“In the last two terms Fiorentina have done very well
and they have everything needed to get into the Champions League.
Every game is important and we have to challenge everyone.”
「過去兩季 Fiorentina 幹得非常不錯，擁有一切打進歐冠所需要的本事，
每場比賽都很重要，我們必須挑戰所有人。」
