Fiorentina striker Giampaolo Pazzini has committed his future to the Viola
after penning a new deal until 2011.
The 22-year-old has already become an icon for the club's supporters and was
expected to extend his contract, which previously expired in 2009.
The former Under-21 international, who will hopefully fill the void left by
Luca Toni's move to Bayern Munich, was pleased after putting pen to paper
with the Artemio Franchi outfit.
「I am proud to have extended my deal with Fiorentina, the club showed faith
in me and I have faith in them,」 said Pazzini.
「The agreement was quick because there weren't any problems, this was
something I have always wanted,」 added the striker.
「I don't think our future will only depend on the first-team regulars we
use. I want to put myself at the Coach's disposal, just as all my teammates
do.
「I don't know how many forwards will play, everything will depend on the
different situations and our opponents,」 explained Pazzo.
Pazzini is aware that the next campaign will be a challenging one, but is
confident the Viola can do well.
「This year's Serie A stars many important clubs. We are working hard and we
have many interesting youngsters on the team, but we need time to reach the
other sides.
「However, I have the feeling that this is the beginning of a winning cycle,」
concluded the ex-Atalanta youngster.
