Genoa have traded striker Ndiaye Papa Waigo with Fiorentina full-back Anthony
Vanden Borre, while Empoli snap up a Serie B star.
The Rossoblu had been hesitant to release former Verona and Cesena hitman
Papa Waigo and wanted this to be only a loan deal.
Instead the two clubs reached an agreement to trade co-ownership rights, so
both Papa Waigo and 20-year-old Belgian international Vanden Borre are now
jointly owned by Fiorentina and Genoa.
It remains to be seen where Papa Waigo will fit in, as Cesare Prandelli
already has Adrian Mutu, Christian Vieri, Daniel Pablo Osvaldo, Giampaolo
Pazzini and January signing Daniele Cacia in attack.
It is impossible for Papa Waigo to be loaned out again to any club other than
his old side Cesena, as the rules state a player cannot be registered with
more than three different teams in the space of the same season.
Vanden Borre arrived in the summer from Anderlecht after Inter had shown
interest, but barely featured for the Viola.
