The stopper began his career in France with Nancy and then he moved to PSV in 2006. He has only played 15 times for the Eredivisie side and has scored once. Reports have suggested that the Viola have beaten off competition from Parma and Juventus who were interested in signing the player to cover their injury crisis in defence. According to Italian media Parma and Juve tried to land the player in a co-ownership deal but Fiorentina seem to have gained the upper hand as the transfer market closes on Thursday night. Cesare Prandelli's men are hoping to qualify for the Champions League, a competition Costa has experience in, and therefore they are looking to strengthen their squad in preparation for Europe』s elite club competition. The Viola have missed out on the competition twice in the last three years and no doubt they would not want to miss out again.
