The proposed switch has been reported by various media outlets over the last few months and those reports will gather pace after today’s developments. After being asked whether the goalkeeper could join the Rossoneri at the end of the season, sporting director Pantaleo Corvino insisted it could happen. “If the ‘keeper came to us with a transfer request then we would not stand in his way,” the Viola official told Rete 37 this afternoon. “At that point, a swap deal with Milan that would see Gilardino arrive would be a good option for us.” Milan have been linked with a Frey approach after another set of problematic and costly goalkeeping performances by Nelson Dida this term. Gilardino too has been associated with a San Siro exit following the arrival of Alexandre Pato and Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli, who worked with him at Parma, knows him well.
