Frenchman Frey has been in simply stunning form this season, and has established himself as undoubtedly one of the best shot-stoppers in Serie A. This form has seen him heavily linked with a summer move to AC Milan, who are looking for a new number one following the problems encountered with the likely-departing Nelson Dida. Frey is still expected to stay at the Stadio Franchi next season, however reports suggest that the Viola will then allow him to leave in the summer of 2009, possibly to join Milan. The 28-year-old would be a big void to fill, however Fiorentina believe they have the perfect replacement in CSKA Moscow star Igor Akinfeev. Akinfeev is widely regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in the world, and he has already won 17 caps for his country, a tally that would have been more had it not been for a serious injury last season.
