Fiorentina are preparing a summer swoop for CSKA Moscow keeper Igor Akinfeev,
according to reports…
The Russia international has been rated among the best young shot-stoppers in
Europe ever since breaking into CSKA's starting line-up at the age of 17.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a host of clubs across the continent,
with Arsenal reportedly expressing interest as Jens Lehmann prepares to leave
in the summer.
And Controcampo have claimed that Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo
Corvino has targeted Akinfeev as a direct replacement for current keeper
Sebastien Frey, who is rumoured to be leaving Stadio Artemio Franchi at the
end of the season.
Frey has been linked with moves to top Italian sides and beyond during the
summer, but as yet there has been no confirmed destination.
The Viola could be set for a major keeper-reshuffle in the off-season, as
Palmeiras keeper Diego Cavalieri has also been strongly linked with a move to
the Italian club.
