Empoli defender Andrea Raggi has been linked with Fiorentina and is hoping to
play Champions League football next season.
The 23-year-old defender, who has collected 33 appearances with Empoli this
season, has also attracted the interest of Palermo, but his preference goes
to the Viola.
「My agent is dealing with the negotiations trying to find an agreement with
Empoli. I know Palermo are interested, but Florence is closer to me, although
they are two big sides,」 he said.
「The Viola are a team for which every footballer would like to play, they
have had a great campaign and are going to be in the Champions League next
season.
「The rumours regarding my transfer have been around for a while now, but it
is true that recently they have been talked down,」 he concluded.
Raggi should take the place of Tomas Ujfalusi, who has signed a contract for
Atletico Madrid, but the Italian defender could cost the Gigliati around ￡5m.
Empoli, on the other hand, could see the return of Alessandro Birindelli to
the Castellani as they look to rebuild their team in order to return to Serie
A as soon as possible.
