Frey - 6: Had very little to do on the whole, but produced an excellent save
at the end to deny Cavani.
Comotto - 6.5: Produced a top-drawer cross for Jovetic to convert for his
goal, and bombed forward well on the right flank.
Gamberini - 7: Could have doubled the Viola's lead but for an excellent block
by Kjaer. He was a level head in the defence and helped to keep Miccoli
starved of clear cut opportunities.
Kroldrup - 7: A very solid performance against the Rosanero, combined well
with Gamberini and produced some key defensive headers to keep the visitors
at bay.
Pasqual - 6: Overlapped well with Vargas but his passing was a little wayward
at times. Slightly overwhelmed by Cavani's movement towards the end.
Donadel - 5.5: Did a job for the visitors but committed a number of needless
fouls that put pressure on his side. He should practice his shooting
technique next week, as his three efforts were miserable.
Zanetti - 8: A brilliant performance from the former Juventus man. Provided
an excellent through ball for Jovetic early on, and showed an effective array
of passing while making a number of ball-winning tackles. Tired towards the
end due to his recovery from injury, and was substituted to a standing
ovation.
Santana - 6: Much of the Viola's attacking play went down the left flank, but
when it came down the right hand side Santana was rarely up to the task of
providing a good delivery into the box.
Jovetic - 8.5: Another sublime display. Had a good effort that hit the post
before scoring what proved to be the winning goal with an instinctive touch.
Gave the Palermo defence problems all night long with his movement and skill
on the ball.
Vargas - 6.5: The Peruvian blew hot and cold tonight. While he was capable of
sending dangerous crosses in for Gilardino, he was also guilty of wasting
possession with some careless passing.
Gilardino - 6: Should have scored early on as the goal gaped in front of him.
However, he had little service as the two Palermo centre backs kept the
former Milan striker quiet.
Subs
Marchionni - 6: A fairly uninspiring performance from the winger, perhaps
keen to avoid injury ahead of his international duties.
Montolivo - 6: Replaced the flagging Zanetti and picked up the tempo of the
game quickly, rarely losing possession.
