AS Roma are jetting off to the US for the second straight year for another
summer tour which will also see Rudi Garcia's men take in Toronto, Canada.
“The tour will be a key part of our preparations for next season,”
explained AS Roma CEO Italo Zanzi. “This trip will allow us to train in
top-level facilities and meet world-class opponents. We will also have the
chance to expand our brand in the world's most exciting markets. We're
confident that our team will gain a lot from this experience. The tour is
also a unique opportunity for our international supporters and our sponsors
to experience first-hand the amazing atmosphere that surrounds AS Roma.”
The Giallorossi will leave the capital on July 28 before heading to Kansas
City: there they'll meet the cream of Major League Soccer at SKC's Sporting
Park, in the 2013 MLS All-Star Game, on July 31.
AS Roma and the MLS stars will begin a series of initiatives in Kansas City
as part of the "Don't Cross the Line" project, which campaigns against all
forms of discrimination. The club's commitment to this campaign does not end
on US soil however: it will run throughout the course of the 2013/14 season.
After their fixture against Thierry Henry and co. the Giallorossi will fly to
Boston, where they will train from August 1-5. Following their stay in
president James Pallotta's home town, it's off to Canada. Roma will meet
Toronto FC for the first time ever, in a friendly at BMO Field on August 7.
The squad will work behind closed doors at the KIA Training Ground during
their stay in Canada, before training infront of the general public at BMO
Field on August 6.
The last stop on their US tour sees the guys visit the Robert F. Kennedy
Stadium in Washington D.C. on August 10. The Giallorossi will meet José
Mourinho's Chelsea at 20:00 local time before returning to Rome.
