Re: [情報]2008選秀報導(36-50 round)
36 #1084 Jonathan Berti SS
Berti is a Bowling Green State University recruit. A 5'10'' infielder, Berti is
from Oakland -- County in Michigan, that is. He attended Troy High School and
has good speed and a good arm.
37 #1114 Ryan Doiron RHP
Doiron is a Tulane recruit. He was named Outstanding Player for 2008 by the
Louisiana Sports Writers Associations for Class 5-A schools. Doiron had an 11-1
record and a 1.17 ERA for Barbe-Lake Charles HS this season.
38 #1144 Bobby Crocker OF
Crocker has committed to Cal-Poly. He is a right-handed hitting outfielder who
has also pitched for Aptos. He has good size and made the list for California's
Best of 2008, put out by the California Coaches Association.
39 #1174 Dennis Clement RHP
Clement put together quite a career as a high school running back, linebacker
and wrestler in Oklahoma. He signed a baseball scholarship with Texas A&M.
Clement, who goes by Denny, has a mid-90s fastball and a good slider.
40 #1204 Jeffrey Dennis LHP
Dennis is a 6'6'' lefty who played in the same small conference as Stockton's
Mike Affronti. Dennis had a 3.97 ERA in 81.2 innings and one complete game for
the Bears this season.
41 #1234 William Hawn 3B
Hawn, who goes by Cody, had a huge year for Walters State, a year after tearing
his ACL and missing his senior season in high school. Hawn went in the 23rd
round last season to Milwaukee. He signed with Arkansas coming out high school,
but elected to go the junior college route instead. He hit 20 homers for
Walters this season.
42 #1264 Kent Walton 2B
Walton had an interesting year at BYU, to say the least. He was temporarily
kicked out of school when his church bishop said that he hadn't attended church
enough, and later reinstated after the Salt Lake-area media got wind of the
story. Walton was the Cougars star centerfielder. A California native, he was
a second-team All-Mountain West Conference player this season and batted .373
in conference play.
43 #1294 Nick Maronde LHP
Maronde, who goes by Nick, is a highly regarded high school pitcher in the
Lexington, Kentucky, area. The 6'3'' lefty has an above-average fastball and
good size. Some pegged Maronde as the best high school draft prospect in the
blue grass state. He is committed to Florida.

4. Nick Maronde, lhp, Lexington Catholic HS (National Rank: 70)
Maronde is very similar to crosstown rival Robbie Ross in that both have
exceptional polish for high school lefthanders. The difference is that while
Maronde has a more conventional pitcher's build at 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds, he
can't quite match Ross' sheer stuff. Maronde isn't just a finesse guy, however.
He pitches from 88-92 mph with his fastball, and his slider is good at times
but still inconsistent. His changeup is advanced for his experience level, and
he pounds the bottom of the strike zone with little difficulty. Maronde won 32
of his first 34 high school decisions, losing only a one-hitter and a duel with
Ross, and was the U.S. junior national team's best pitcher last summer, going
2-0 and not allowing an earned run in nine innings. Teams would be very
interested in Maronde if they thought he'd sign for second- or third-round
money, but that appears unlikely. He's advised by the Scott Boras Corporation
and has a scholarship to play at Florida.
44 #1324 Jimmy Messer RHP
Messer is a UNC recruit who is profiled by Scout.com's Inside Carolina in this
article. IC compares Messer's demeanor on the mound to current A's prospect and
former Tar Heels' closer Andrew Carignan. He was a high school teammate of 2007
San Francisco Giants' top pick Madison Bumgarner.
45 #1353 Derek Benny RHP
Benny is a Fresno State recruit. The tall right-hander stands 6'5'' and he
throws in the low-90s. He struck out 72 in 52.1 innings for Roseville High
School this season.
46 #1381 J.R. Graham RHP
The A's take a local product, Livermore HS right-hander Jonathan Graham.
Graham, who goes by J.R., is a hard thrower who also played shortstop for the
Cowboys. He is a Santa Clara recruit, where he will likely be teammates with
fellow 2008 draftee Kevin Eichhorn.
47 #1408 Coley Crank C
In round 47, the A's stayed local once again, this time taking Pinole Valley HS
catcher Coley Crank. Crank is planning to head all the way out to Ann Arbor and
play for Michigan. He is very strong and projects to be a power-hitter down the
road.
48 #1435 Brett Holland RHP
The A's take Brett Holland, a right-hander from UT-Tyler in the 48th round.
Holland was named a second-team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches
Association. He had a 2.76 ERA and 113 strike-outs in 91.1 innings this season
for Texas-Tyler.
49 #1462 Matt Bowman 2B
In round 49, the A's took Nevada-Reno second baseman Matt Bowman. Bowman hit
.355 with four homers and a .454 OBP for the Wolf Pack this season.
50 #1489 Derek Wiley 1B
With their 50th and final pick, the A's select infielder Derek Wiley of
Belmont University. Wiley hit 17 homers for Belmont in 2008. He is currently
playing for Thunder Bay of the Northwoods wood-bat league, so the A's will
likely keep an eye on him over the summer before deciding whether to sign him.
Through yesterday, Wiley was hitting .412 for the Border Cats.
