Eric Chavez said Wednesday morning that he was lobbying to swing
the bat in that game, which will be his first at third base in the
Cactus League this spring. It must have worked because manager Bob
Geren confirmed after Oakland's 5-4 loss to the White Sox that Chavez
will hit against the Padres on Friday.
There's a good chance that all of the A's starting position players will
take the field that night; Geren said he'd like to get his regulars more
time together in the next week.
