Kurt Suzuki was scheduled to catch the next few days, and the A’s do not have another catcher on the 40-man roster. RHP Justin Duchscherer (arthroscopic elbow surgery in March 2009) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 29. He had a setback in May while rehabbing in Arizona, incurring some back stiffness, but he resumed his throwing program a few days later. The back problem caused him to be shut down again days later.
