#105 B.A.Vollmuth Southern Mississippi 3B R/R
6'03" 215 1989-12-23 JR
Vollmuth hit all of three home runs as a high school senior, so Southern
Mississippi coaches were surprised when he stepped in as a freshman for
injured team leader Brian Dozier and hit eight home runs in just 97 at-bats.
He helped lead the Golden Eagles to their first College World Series bid,
then bashed 20 homers as a sophomore. Vollmuth has battled the new bats and
a hip injury in 2011, and moved off shortstop to the less-demanding third
base. At 6-foot-4 and a listed 200 pounds, he may wind up outgrowing third
and moving to a corner outfield spot--or first base if his below-average
speed further deteriorates. With an accurate, above-average arm, that would
waste of one of his better tools. Vollmuth still has looseness in his swing,
and he has tremendous leverage. He's always going to swing and miss, but
instincts and savvy have helped him improve his hitting ability over his
college career. He has toned down an exaggerated leg kick, and while he
remains streaky, he has gained consistency.
mlb.com:
Vollmuth hit .301 while starting all 55 games for Southern Mississippi as a
junior. He led the Golden Eagles with 12 home runs, 49 RBIs and a .548
slugging percentage. Sported a .904 fielding percentage as a junior.
Named as a pre-season All-American in 2010 by Baseball America. In 2008,
he was drafted in the 32nd round (No. 962 overall) by the Houston Astros.

#136 Bobby Crocker Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo OF R/R
6'03" 220 1990-05-01 JR
Crocker is much more physical than the other top outfielder from Northern
California, Fresno State's Dusty Robinson, and they're very different
players. Scouts can project more with Crocker more than they can with
Robinson, who is what he is. Crocker is an above-average runner with some
juice in his bat, though he doesn't turn on balls as well as he should. He
has an inside-out approach right now, but could definitely start showing his
power more as he gets into pro ball and loosens up his swing. Crocker
is an impressive athlete with a chiseled, 6-foot-3, 230-pound frame. He's a
hard worker with an unusual amount of upside remaining for a college junior.
mlb.com:
Started 49 games in the outfield and led the Mustangs with a .339 batting
average and a .431 on-base percentage. Had five outfield assists as a junior
and led the team with 64 hits and a .497 slugging percentage. Grew up 90
minutes south of Oakland in Aromas, Calif.

#166 Beau Taylor U Central Florida C L/R
5'10" 180 1990-02-13 JR
Beau Taylor has passed Ronnie Richardson as the Golden Knights' top prospect,
a lefthanded-hitting catcher who has offensive ability. Taylor's hand-eye
coordination has helped him produce for three seasons as a regular, and he
has solid hitting tools to go with a good profile. Taylor didn't start
catching regularly until he got to UCF and remains rough as a receiver. He
has a solid-average arm more notable for its accuracy than its explosiveness.
mlb.com:
Started 58 games at catcher as a junior for the Knights while being named to
the Johnny Bench Award watch list for the nation's top collegiate catcher.
Hit .325 while bringing in 47 RBIs this season. Committed just one error
behind the plate as a junior. Had 20 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI outings.

#196 Dayton Alexander Feather River Col OF R/R
6'02" 190 1991-02-04 J2
Outfielder Dayton Alexander is the cousin of Phillies outfielder Shane
Victorino and shows similar speed and excellent defense in center field. He's
a righthanded hitter who has gap power but gets a little too pull-happy at
the plate. If he learns to use all fields, his speed could make him a serious
threat. Alexander is committed to Washington.
mlb.com:
Hit .382 with a .469 on-base percentage in 38 games as a junior. Hit .444
against righties, .362 against lefties and .349 with runners in scoring
position this season. Drove in 24 runs and led Feather River in total bases
(90).
