Samardzija told me in a text that the trade hasn’t really sunk in yet; the
idea of going home is exciting, but he’s genuinely sad to leave the A’s,
bonding tightly with his teammates even in just the three months he played in
Oakland.
“I’m sad, I loved playing on that team, the players and staff,” Samardzija
said. “We’re what baseball is all about. It was truly an honor. I’m really
going to miss those guys on the A’s and the whole experience.”
