Oakland Athletics ink four international pitching prospects

Last week, the Oakland A's officially signed four international amateur free
agents: right-handed pitchers Stiven Montilla, Alexis Cedano and Yonatan De
Leon and left-handed pitcher Yorlenis Noa.
According to A's Assistant General Manager Daniel Feinstein, all four will
report to the A's extended spring training in the Dominican Republic and the
team will assess their readiness to pitch in the Dominican Summer League this
season at that point.
Cedano, Montilla and De Leon all hail from the Dominican Republic. Cedano,
20, is the oldest of the three and he's 6-feet, 180 pounds. Montilla, 18, is
6'2'' , 190-pounds and De Leon, 19, is 6'3'', 185-pounds.
Noa, the only lefty in the group, is from Cuba. He turned 22 last month and
pitched for two seasons in the Cuban National Series league. He last pitched
in Cuba in the 2015-16 season, when he had a 4.50 ERA in 26 innings.
"We make it a priority to scout and sign older (by International standards)
players who we think can make an immediate impact on the DSL team but also
possess the upside to come over and move up the system," Feinstein said over
email. "These four pitchers fit that bill for us. We're constantly on the
lookout for these type of under the radar pitchers.
"Generally, the players we sign in this arena already flash the makings of
plus stuff, though their actual ability to pitch is usually still a little
rough. We trust our staff in the Dominican to make any necessary adjustments,
as most of them haven't had the benefit of professional instruction."
