The NL roster included Hall of Famers Frankie, Frisch, Chuck Klein, Chick Hafey, Bill Terry, Paul Waner, Pie Traynor, Carl Hu bbell and Gabby Hartnett, and was managed by John McGraw, who came out of ret irement to skipper the exhibition squad. Meanwhile, the AL's formidable lineup , managed by Connie Mack, included the likes of Lou Gehrig, Al Simmons, Lefty Gomez, Lefty Grove and some guy named Babe Ruth. （當年由球迷票選出的雙方球員陣容） When the day finally came, July 6, the contest was every bit as dramatic as ad vertised. And, in the bottom of the third inning, the Bambino came to the plat e in front of 49,000 fans hoping to see Ruth do his thing against Cardinals pi tcher Bill Hallahan. Ouch. And, unsurprisingly, the AL won, 4-2. But Ruth's homer isn't the only amazing play that happened on this day in All- Star Game history.
