關於2018/2022世界盃主辦權，美國將心力放在競爭2022 FIFA World Cup™主辦權，而
2018主辦權則由1)比利時/荷蘭、2)英格蘭、3)俄羅斯、4)西班牙/葡萄牙這四組人馬
去爭。2018主辦權落誰家將於2010年12月2日宣佈。
為什麼要放棄2018除了時間問題外，還有FIFA的態度是比較傾向於2018在歐洲舉行世
界盃。至於2022參辦權候選人除了美國之外還有：澳大利亞、日本、南韓以及卡達。
