"I have no need to see him," he said. It was widely reported in Italy today that the national Coach had decided to bury the hatchet with the Roma full-back in light of the Azzurri's need for a reliable right-back. However, Lippi denied unequivocally any intention on his part to hold clear-the-air talks with the former Chelsea man. "I haven't arranged any meeting," he said. "I don't see why I should see him." Panucci, then, remains out in the cold and his World Cup hopes as distant as ever after this latest statement from his former Inter boss.
