Doni signed a two-year deal and will once again wear the Atalanta jersey after playing in Bergamo between 1998 and 2003 before moving to Sampdoria. The 33-year-old had agreed a one-year contract extension with the Spanish side in July, but decided to return to Italy because of his difficult relationship with Coach Gregorio Marzano. The former Italian international played 24 matches in last season's Liga championship, netting just two goals. Midfielder Abeijon has also finalised his move to Atalanta after accepting a one-year deal with the Stadio Azzurri d'Italia outfit. The 33-year-old Uruguayan landed in Cagliari in 1998 and had remained there ever since apart from a six-month loan spell at Como in 2003. Abeijon, who was currently a free agent after his contract with the Sardinian side expired, was also courted by Messina in the past few weeks.
