The striker had been paired with a move to Milan in recent weeks, but he's returned to Italy with the Rossoblu after signing a deal until June 2009. “I was first contacted in January and initially I was doubtful about playing in Serie B, but after those doubts passed there were no further problems,” he explained. “I was very excited during the Press conference and I think that is a positive sign. This is an ambitious club with an important project.” The 30-year-old only signed a two-year contract with Monaco last summer after a loan spell from Valencia, but he failed to make an impact in Ligue 1 as he scored just three goals in 14 games this term. “I wanted a return to Italy,” he added. “I enjoyed my time at Valencia and Monaco as long as [Coaches] Claudio Ranieri and Francesco Guidolin were there, then things changed. “I am very happy to start this new adventure and the first impression is definitely positive.” The former Parma and Juventus hitman has scored 99 times so far in Serie A and Serie B, and he's keen to hit his century as soon as possible. “My condition is fairly good and I think Genoa's tactical plans adapt well to my characteristics. I will score my next goal here, with this glorious outfit,” he continued. “I want to thank President Enrico Preziosi and I want to repay his trust in the best possible way. “I don't like to make promises because football is unpredictable, but I am here to do my job and score.
